FAB ACTion Meetings have
officially retired. At the close of the May
2007 meeting (last night), I announced to everyone that there
will be
no more FAB ACTion meetings. In March, I thought I would be able
to
continue on a every-other-month basis, but after serious
contemplation of all factors, I came to the decision that it was
time. Time for new doors to open. Time to explore other creative
ventures. Time to ACT! Sometimes, the only way for new
opportunities
to present themselves, for new doors to open, is to close a
door.
It's time to redirect energies, to focus on other creative
endeavors.
The past four years have been very exciting and rewarding for
me.
I've enjoyed meeting and working with every one of you. Remember
how
we used to have refreshments at every meeting? The raffles and
door
prizes added a lot of fun to the meetings and I really enjoyed
finding new and different raffle prizes for you. It was like
sharing
my life with an extended family, but that's one of the joys of
working in this business, don't you agree?
Most importantly, we've probably discussed and shared almost
every
aspect of the industry and how it affects talent — how to get in
and
work the business, elements of marketing and networking,
headshots
and comps, obtaining representation and working with agents,
what is
involved in casting and what do production companies expect from
talent, scams and how to avoid them, among many other subjects.
We've
had wonderful guest speakers from every corner of the industry -
talent agents, casting directors, acting schools and coaches,
producers, voice over artists/coaches, etc. It is my belief that
one
of the things that made our meetings so special was the fact
that it
was an `open forum'. I hope you have enjoyed FAB ACTion
meetings,
made new friends and learned a lot of new things. Thank you so
much
for all your support and loyalty.
The Fabactor Yahoo Group will remain very active and I hope
you'll
stay very involved in posting industry information and will
continue
to benefit from the messages and notices posted by others. Also,
I
will continue to publish FAB, the Florida Actors/Models Book.
Much of
the information discussed at the meetings is provided to you in
FAB.
Please see this website for additional information at
www.fabactor.com. FAB is your best resource guide to the
business!
As they say, it's your Bible!
I'll see you on the set or at another networking meeting. New
adventures are on the horizon! Please know that I'm available if
you
need to talk about something, need some advice or direction, or
have
new ideas or information to share. Please give me a call or drop
me
an email (probably the best way to reach me). You'll still hear
about
FAB ACTion (FAB Actors in ACTion) because that's the official
name of
my business with the State of Florida, but the meetings are all
cancelled from this point on. Break a leg, guys; I'll see you on
the
set.
You're "FABulous".
